Coelophysis kayentakatae

Taxonomy
Syntarsus kayentakatae was named by Rowe (1989). Its type specimen is MNA V2623, a partial skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Rock Head North, MNA 555-3, which is in a Sinemurian/Pliensbachian terrestrial sandstone in the Kayenta Formation of Arizona.

It was recombined as Coelophysis kayentakatae by Bristowe and Raath (2004) and Rinehart et al. (2007); it was recombined as Megapnosaurus kayentakatae by Irmis (2004), Milner et al. (2006), Smith and Merrill (2006), Spielmann et al. (2007), Jasinski (2011) and Martínez et al. (2013).

G. S. Paul 1993Robust skull, small paired crests, lacrimal bar thick, post temporal fenestra absent, retroarticular process moderately long, teeth fairly large, row of 18 maxillary teeth ends beneath orbit. Distal pubic and ischial expansions relatively large.
