Taxonomy
Blikanasaurus cromptoni was named by Galton and Van Heerden (1985). Its type specimen is SAM K403. Its type locality is Blikana Mountain, Transkei (zone A/4), which is in a Norian/Rhaetian terrestrial horizon in the Elliot Formation of South Africa.
