Plateosauravus
Taxonomy
Plateosauravus was named by Huene (1932). Its type is Plateosaurus cullingworthi. It is the type genus of Plateosauravidae.
It was synonymized subjectively with Euskelosaurus by Cooper (1981) and Galton (2001); it was considered a nomen dubium by Galton and Upchurch (2004).
It was assigned to Prosauropoda by Kuhn (1939); to Saurischia by Huene (1940); to Melanorosauridae by Romer (1956), Romer (1966), Charig (1967), Ellenberger (1970) and Steel (1970); to Plateosauria by Upchurch et al. (2007); to Prosauropoda by Martínez (2009); to Sauropodomorpha by Galton et al. (2005), Smith and Pol (2007), Yates (2010), Apaldetti et al. (2011), Novas et al. (2011) and Otero and Pol (2013); and to Plateosauridae by Haughton and Brink (1954) and McPhee et al. (2015).
