Taxonomy
Microgomphodon oligocynus was named by Seeley (1895). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NHMUK R3305. Its type locality is Aliwal North Area, which is in an Anisian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Burgersdorp Formation of South Africa.
