Taxonomy
Tyrrhenoglis majori was named by Engesser (1976). Its type specimen is Ty 5181, Museum of Basel. Mandible with left M1 and right M1-M2., a mandible. Its type locality is Capo Figari, Golfo Aranci, NE of the Island of Sardinia, which is in a MN 16 terrestrial horizon in Italy. It is the type species of Tyrrhenoglis.
