Santiagorothia was named by Hitz et al. (2000) [It was not originally designated as a genus, per se - rather just part of the binomial "Santiagorothia chiliensis"]. It is not extant. Its type is Santiagorothia chiliensis.
It was assigned to Interatheriinae by Hitz et al. (2000) and Reguero and Prevosti (2010).
