It was synonymized subjectively with Anura by Cope (1875); it was reranked as the superorder Salientia by Hecht (1960), Dundee (1989), Gao and Wang (2001) and Gao and Chen (2004); it was reranked as the order Salientia by Gardner (2001) and Anderson et al. (2008).
