Orygmophyllum was named by Fomichev (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 163]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Dibunophyllinae by Hill (1981); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neokoninckophyllidae by Fedorowski (2019).
