Taxonomy
Protarchaeohyrax minor was named by Reguero et al. (2003). Its type specimen is MLP 52-XI-4-168a, right maxillary fragment bearing P4-M2 (possibly P3-M1), a maxilla. Its type locality is Cañadón Blanco, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Argentina.
