Taxonomy
Eopelobates leptocolaptus was named by Borsuk-Bialynicka (1978). Its type specimen is ZPal MgAb-III/1, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Gobiates leptocolaptus by Spinar and Tatarinov (1986) and Roček (2008).
