Gilmoreteius gilmorei

Taxonomy
Macrocephalosaurus gilmorei was named by Sulimski (1975). Its type specimen is ZPal MgR-III/18, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khermeen Tsav I, Red Beds [PMPE], which is in a Campanian/Campanian eolian sandstone in the Baruungoyot Formation of Mongolia.

It was recombined as Gilmoreteius gilmorei by Langer (1998).

A. Sulimski 1975Length of skulls not exceeding 80 mm. Sculpture of the roofing bones often developed in the form of delicate irregularly arranged tubercles. Jugal with posteroventral process developed as a tuber or outwardly, tilted, widened spur. Parietal foramen close to the fronto-parietal suture. Pleurodont dentition with well developed anterior canine-like teeth of the maxilla. Cheek tooth cutting edges with well developed denticles of iguanid type. Lower jaw massive, high, with much ventral angular swelling. Retroarticular process short, wide, sharply pointed.
