Hangjinia was named by Godefroit and Guo (1999). It is not extant. Its type is Hangjinia chowi.
It was assigned to Gobiconodontinae by Godefroit and Guo (1999); and to Gobiconodontidae by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
