It was corrected as Anguininae by McDowell and Bogert (1954).
It was assigned to Anguinidae by McDowell and Bogert (1954); and to Anguidae by Kuhn (1966), Meszoely (1970), Estes (1976), Estes (1983), Sullivan (1987), Vianey-Liaud et al. (2014) and Cernansky et al. (2015).
