Zofiabaataridae was named by Bakker (1992). It is not extant. Its type is Zofiabaatar. It was considered monophyletic by Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001).
It was assigned to Plagiaulacida by Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004); and to Multituberculata by Bakker (1992) and Weaver et al. (2020).
