It was recombined as Pantydraco caducus by Galton et al. (2007), Galton (2007), Bittencourt and Kellner (2009), Galton and Kermack (2010), Langer et al. (2010), Apaldetti et al. (2011), Delsate and Ezcurra (2014), Griffin and Nesbitt (2016) and Martill et al. (2016); it was synonymized subjectively with Thecodontosaurus antiquus by Galton (2005) and Ballell et al. (2020).

Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
A. M. Yates 2003 A species of Thecodontosaurus with the following autapomorphy: pleurocoel-like pits on the neurocentral sutures of the sixth, seventh and eighth cervical vertebrae. T. caducus can be further distinguished from T. antiquus by exhibiting the plesiomorphic state for the autapomorphies of that species. These include a medial tubercle of the proximal humerus that does not project strongly (versus strongly projecting in T. antiquus) and a preacetabular process of the ilium that projects cranially (versus a downcurved preacetabular process in T. antiquus).
P. M. Galton et al. 2007An autapomorphy is the pseudopleurocoel, the opening to the pneumatic cavity on the neurocentral suture of the sixth to eighth cervical vertebrae (Fig. 1C). Humerus plesiomorphic with a small tubercle medial to head and an anteroposteriorly low asymmetrical deltopectoral crest with the apex at 40% of humeral length (Fig. 1E-G).
