Taxonomy
Ambonychia amygdalina was named by Hall (1847) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Ordovician.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cleionychia amygdalina by Ulrich (1892); it was recombined as Ambonychiopsis amygdalina by Ulrich (1894); it was recombined as Ambonychinia amygdalina by Soot-Ryen and Soot-Ryen (1960); it was synonymized subjectively with Ambonychiopsis orbicularis by Pojeta (1966).
