Strobeus ventricosus was named by de Koninck (1881). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Ianthinopsis ventricosus by Knight et al. (1960) and Gromczakiewicz-Lomnicka (1972); it was recombined as Ianthinopsis ventricosa by Batten (1966).
