Mytilarca foerstei was named by Clarke and Ruedemann (1903) [This is a replacement name for Mytilarca mytiliformis Foerste 1895 (1893), which was pre-occupied by Myalina mytiliformis Hall 1852, which Ulrich transferred to Mytilarca in Foerste 1895. ].
