Siamotherium was named by Suteethorn et al. (1988). It is not extant.
It was assigned to Anthracotheriidae by McKenna and Bell (1997), Ducrocq et al. (2000) and Spaulding et al. (2009); to Anthracotheriinae by Boisserie et al. (2005) and Boisserie et al. (2010); and to Hippopotamoidea by Orliac et al. (2010), Soe et al. (2017) and Scherler et al. (2019).
