Taxonomy
Anouroneomys magnus was named by Hutchison and Bown (1980) [genotype]. Its type locality is Lemoyne Quarry, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Ash Hollow Formation of Nebraska. It is the type species of Anouroneomys.
It was recombined as Crusafontina magna by Van Dam (2004).
