Coelostylodon florentinoameghinoi

Taxonomy
Coelostylodon florentinoameghinoi was named by Simpson (1970) [MMP = Museo Municipal de Ciencias Naturales de Mar del Plata]. Its type specimen is MMP 723M, right C and P3-M3; skull, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barranca south of Lago Colhue-Huapi, Gran Barranca, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Coelostylodon.

It was synonymized subjectively with Plexotemnus complicatissimus by Bond and López (1993).
