M. Bond and G. M. López 1993 | As for comparing the Mustersian species tentatively placed by Simpson, 1967 within the genus Acoelohyrax, they were considered by Odreman Rivas (1978: 35) as representatives of the family Notohippidae, although different and more generalized than Eomorphippus. Indeed, the comparison between these species and Puelia plicata with the unpublished material mentioned above (Pampahippus gen. nov.) allows us to recognize Puelia plicata Roth, 1902 as a primitive Notohippidae and including in this genus, as a new combination, the species P. coarctatus Ameghino, 1901 and P. sigma Ameghino, 1901. Trimerostephanos coalitus Ameghino, 1901 is considered a probable large Notohippidae, very different and more advanced than the species recognized for the genus Puelia.
