It was reranked as the subfamily Hyrachyinae by Peterson (1919) and Radinsky (1966).

It was assigned to Hyracodontidae by Peterson (1919); to Helaletidae by Radinsky (1966); and to Rhinocerotoidea by Holbrook (1999).
