Taxonomy
Natica guppiana was named by Toula (1909). Its type specimen is Natica guppiana, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Natica guppyana by Brown and Pilsbry (1911), Olsson (1922) and Barrios (1960); it was recombined as Natica (Stigmaulax) guppyana by Anderson (1929) and Oinomikado (1939); it was recombined as Stigmaulax guppyana by Weisbord (1962); it was recombined as Stigmaulax guppiana by Woodring (1959) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
