Protelephas planifrons

Taxonomy
Elephas planifrons was named by Falconer and Cautley (1846). It is the type species of Protelephas.

It was synonymized subjectively with Archidiskodon meridionalis by Pohlig (1885); it was recombined as Protelephas planifrons by Garutt (1957).
