Grangeria canina was named by Zdansky (1930) [The type is from China and is (or was) stored in the paleontological institute of the university of Upsala, Sweden.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is T'ans Lokal (T'an's restaurant), which is in an Eocene terrestrial marl/limestone in China.
