Imogloba was named by Nützel et al. (2000) [The authorship is incorrect - Nützel et al. 2000 named this genus.]. Its type is Ianthinopsis gandyensis. It is the type genus of Imoglobidae.

It was assigned to Imoglobidae by Nützel et al. (2000) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
