Taxonomy
Raphistoma leiosomella was named by Sardeson (1896). It is the type species of Chepultapecia.

It was recombined as Sinuopea leiosomella by Wagner (1999); it was recombined as Chepultapecia leiosomella by Weller and St. Clair (1928), Knight (1941), Knight et al. (1960) and Wagner (2017).
