Taxonomy
Monitorella auricula was named by Rohr (1994). Its type specimen is USNM 473929, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is D9807 CO. Dobbin Summit, which is in a Whiterockian open shallow subtidal limestone/siltstone in the Antelope Valley Formation of Nevada.
It was recombined as Teiichispira auricula by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
