Taxonomy
Machairodus irtyschensis was named by Orlov (1936). Its type specimen is No: 2413/115, a mandible (lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pawlodar City, right side of Irtysch River, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial mudstone in the Russian Federation.
