Nuculana (Pseudoportlandia) tahuia was named by Marwick (1942) [TYPE LOCALITY: McCulloch's Bridge, South Island, New Zealand; Runangan, Eocene.]. Its type specimen is TM 4114 and is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Pseudoportlandia tahuia by Fleming (1966), Beu and Maxwell (1990) and Maxwell (1992).
