Abyssochrysidae was named by Tomlin (1927) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5422]. Its type is Abyssochrysos.

It was assigned to Loxonematoidea by Ponder and Warén (1988); to Caenogastropoda by Bouchet et al. (2005) and Kiel et al. (2010); and to Abyssochrysoidea by Bouchet et al. (2017).
