Adacninae was named by Gill (1871) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9263]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the tribe Adacnini by Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Lymnocardiidae by Vokes (1980); and to Lymnocardiinae by Carter et al. (2011).
