Taxonomy
Siphonodendron was named by McCoy (1849) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 163]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lithostrotioninae by Hill (1981); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lithostrotionidae by Aretz and Nudds (2005).
