Atlantidae was named by Wiegmann and Ruthe (1832) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5387]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Heteropoda by Zorn (1997); to Pterotracheoidea by Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Carinarioidea by Ponder and Warén (1988), Beesley (1998) and Hendy et al. (2008).
