Stelechophyllum was named by Tolmachev (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Vise-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lithostrotionidae by Hill (1956); to Acrocyathinae by Hill (1981); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
