Bernardinidae was named by Keen (1963) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5140].

It was synonymized subjectively with Neoleptonidae by Bouchet et al. (2010).

It was assigned to Arcticacea by Vokes (1980); and to Arcticoidea by Nevesskaja (2009).
