Taxonomy
Byzantia obliqua was named by Kosnik (1997) [m. kosnik taxon no: 11058]. Its type specimen is USNM 486319, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM703a, Old Word Ranch, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Byzantia.
