Taxonomy
Callistoplacinae was named by Dall (1879) [m. kosnik taxon no: 7284]. It is extant.

It was corrected as Callistoplacidae by Abbott (1974) and Marquet et al. (2008); it was reranked as the family Callistoplacidae by Vendrasco et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Ischnochitonidae by Beesley (1998); to Ischnochitonina by Abbott (1974) and Marquet et al. (2008); and to Chitonida by Vendrasco et al. (2022).

M. J. Vendrasco et al. 2022Strong tegmental sculpture of thick ridges on head valve, lateral areas of intermediate valves, and post-mucronal area of tail valve. Slit rays and insertion teeth typically correspond to these ridges (Smith, 1960).
