Calyptraeoidea was named by Lamarck (1809) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6028]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Discopoda by Ponder and Warén (1988); to Littorinimorpha by Beesley (1998), Todd (2001) and Jeffery (2003); and to Hypsogastropoda by Bouchet et al. (2005).
