Corbula densata was named by Conrad (1854) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6645; DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jackson, which is in an Eocene coastal horizon in Mississippi.
It was recombined as Caryocorbula densata by Palmer and Brann (1965) and CoBabe and Allmon (1994).
