Pleurotoma unizonalis was named by Lamarck (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Drillia (Clavus) unizonalis by Abrard (1947); it was recombined as Clavus unizonalis by Kosnik (2002), Hendy (2007).
