Venus papyracea was named by Gray (1825) [COMMENTS: Middle Miocene-Recent; Indian Ocean; COMMENTS: m. kosnik taxon no: 9943.]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Venus (Clementia) papyracea by Vredenburg (1928); it was recombined as Clementia (Clementia) papyracea by Oostingh (1935), Perrilliat (1994), Tomida and Nakamura (2001), Kosnik (2002) and Tiwari and Kachhara (2003).
