Taxonomy
Wentzelella (Szechuanophyllum) was named by Wang (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Guad Sepkoski's reference number: 1086]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Szechuanophyllum by Kropatcheva (1989) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Wentzelella by Wang (1957) and Hill (1981); to Waagenophyllidae by Kropatcheva (1989); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
