Cypraea arabica was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Arabica.
It was recombined as Arabica arabica by Jousseaume (1884); it was recombined as Mauritia (Arabica) arabica by Gilbert (1963); it was recombined as Cypraea (Mauritia) arabica by Ladd (1977); it was recombined as Mauritia arabica by Meyer (2004).
