Cyrenoididae was named by Adams and Adams (1857) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5180]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Lucinacea by Newell (1965) and Vokes (1980); to Corbiculoidea by Taylor et al. (2009); to Cyrenoidoidea by Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Cyrenoidea by Carter et al. (2011).
