Epidiceratinae was named by Rengarten (1950) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9288]. It was considered paraphyletic by Skelton (2013).

It was reranked as the family Epidiceratidae by Nevesskaja (2009) and Skelton (2013).

It was assigned to Diceratidae by Vokes (1980); and to Requienioidea by Nevesskaja (2009) and Skelton (2013).
