Eratoidae was named by Gill (1871) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5407]. It is extant.

It was synonymized objectively with Eratoinae by Ponder and Warén (1988).

It was assigned to Cypraeacea by Abbott (1974) and Ward and Blackwelder (1987); to Caenogastropoda by Wienrich (2001); to Lamellarioidea by Harzhauser (2002); and to Triviidae by Jeffery (2003).
