Eustomidae was named by Cossmann (1906) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5395]. Its type is Eustoma.

It was corrected as Eustomatidae by Bouchet et al. (2005) and Bouchet et al. (2017).

It was assigned to Cerithioidea by Ponder and Warén (1988) and Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Cerithiimorpha by Bouchet et al. (2017).
