Glauconomidae was named by Gray (1853) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5205]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Veneracea by Vokes (1980) and Parker (1982); and to Cyrenoidea by Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).
